Sometimes you might notice that the “Today’s XP” you see inside AlphaNumbers doesn’t match what you see in TimeBack.
What’s happening?
You’re looking at XP in two different places:
- AlphaNumbers shows an in-app XP value (“Today’s XP”) while you’re working.
- TimeBack shows earned XP and goals, including on the Learning Metrics page.
Because TimeBack updates are not always immediate, you may temporarily see different numbers in AlphaNumbers and TimeBack.
Why can it take a while to match?
TimeBack collects, processes, and displays learning data through app-specific integrations.
Those integrations do not always update TimeBack in real time, so XP may appear in TimeBack after a delay.
If the numbers don’t match yet, it just means AlphaNumbers hasn’t updated TimeBack with your latest XP earnings yet. But it should catch up later.
Why this is especially noticeable in AlphaNumbers?
This mismatch can feel extra confusing in AlphaNumbers because:
- AlphaNumbers shows “Today’s XP” right on the home screen, so it’s easy to compare it to TimeBack immediately.
- AlphaNumbers has unusually high delays sometimes, especially when you leave the app on a practice or an assessment page.
Example: A student may see 11 “Today’s XP” in AlphaNumbers, but 8 XP in TimeBack’s Learning Metrics at the same moment, but they should be the same numbers on the following day.
What should you do?
- Don’t panic and don’t chase the number minute-by-minute. A temporary mismatch can happen while TimeBack updates.
- Check the date you’re viewing in TimeBack → Learning Metrics. Make sure you’re looking at the same day you earned the XP.
- Give it time, then check again later. TimeBack is not always updated in real time for most apps.
When and how should you ask for help?
If the XP is still different after a whole day has passed, ask your Guide (or Support) for help. If possible, let us know the approximate time when you noticed the difference for the first time.
